Cypress Middle School recently won the Memphis Grizzlies Stay in School Challenge for the second year in a row. The students from Cypress who had 95% or better attendance rate throughout the entire challenge attended a special reception at Golf and Games Family Park on Wednesday, April 9. They received Grizzlies memorabilia and had a pizza party. Air Grizz made a special appearance at the reception, and First Student made a special donation to the program by donating the transportation for the students from Cypress Middle School to Golf and Games Family Park.
The Grizzlies want to thank Lucite International, Golf and Games, and First Student for helping make this a fun and exciting way to reward the students for their outstanding efforts.
The Memphis Grizzlies Stay in School Challenge presented by Lucite International included 602 seventh and eighth grade students from Cypress Middle School and Vance Middle School.
The Stay in School Challenge was developed in a partnership with the District Attorney General of Shelby County, Memphis City Schools, and the Memphis Grizzlies, all of whom are determined to positively motivate students to attend and actively participate in school. This program aims to encourage and reward students for perfect attendance during two grading periods, which ran from Monday, January 14 through Friday, March 28, 2008. Each student received awards for each week they had a 95% or better attendance rate throughout the challenge.
